Wajir county officials Presenting the system to RCMRD

A delegation from the Wajir County Government led by Sheik Abdi Osman (Chief Executive in charge of Water, Energy and Natural Resources) visited the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources (RCMRD) in Kasarani, Nairobi.

The delegates came to give a presentation on the Developed Web-Based Water Resource Management System and get feedback from RCMRD.

Also in attendance during the presentation was Dr. Hussein Farah (Director General, RCMRD), Yussuf Abdi Gedi (Chief Executive in charge of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries- Wajir), Evelyn Njurai (Project Manager), Daudi Hashi (Project operations manager), Dekow Shallow Mohamed (Project lead consultant in GIS and Director DAF Consultant Agency Limited), Solomon Maingi (GIS expert– DAF), Michael Kimani (Web developer– DAF), and Ahmed Ibrahim Abdi (CEO, Arid Lands Development Focus – observer in matters of water mapping).

Wajir County Government was the beneficiary of $50,000 awarded by RCMRD/SERVIR Eastern and Southern Africa under the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) collaboration, through the Small Scale Applications Project.

The project started in September, 2014 and is expected to end in July, 2015.
