Property worth thousands was this evening reduced to ashes after Mandera County’s largest miraa market caught fire in an unclear circumstances.
Hapless residents used buckets to fight the inferno before they were joined by security offices and county fire fighters in the border town which is currently under a dawn to dusk curfew.
Residents living in areas near the market defied the restriction imposed by the government following run-away insecurity incidences in the town to come out in large numbers to put out the fire.
No details was immediately available on the cause of fire or extent of damage.
