A Kenyan military Chopper today crashed in Kismayu City, Southern Somalia after developing technical problems.

The aircraft came down at a few minutes past 3pm on its way back after conducting raids in Jamaame, southern Somalia.

“(A) KDF aircraft while returning from a combat mission in Jamaame, (Southern Somalia), developed technical problems and crashed in the general area of Kismayu,” a statement by KDF spokesman Colonel David Obonyo said.

He was categorical that the plane was not downed by Al-Shabaab as they have no capacity to do so. He however did not give more details on whether there were any casualties.
