ECD set to improve in Wajir as college is officially opened

ECD education in Wajir is set for major improvement following the opening of an ECD college in the county.

The college, situated at Wajir Girls Primary school compound was first started in the year 2014 and is registered with the ministry of Education and the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).

The official opening ceremony was graced by CEC for Education, Gender, youth, and social services Mrs. Habiba Hussein accompanied by senior officials in the department.

Habiba urged the ECD students to work hard and assured them of her government’s support.

She also urged them to place the interest of students before that of their own assuring them that she will follow up with the relevant authorities to ensure their remunerations are looked into.

The event was also attended by former Education chief officer Mr. Abdi Ibrahim as well as Director for education, youth, gender, sports and culture Mrs. Halima Ali.

The county has so far employed 334 ECD teachers in the current financial year.
