Mandera Governor Ali Roba has said that his administration will put in place measures to ensure that no human or animal will suffer in the county as a result of water shortages.

Speaking at Darwed village in Takaba sub-county after commissioning a borehole drilled in the area, Roba said that more boreholes will be drilled in areas experiencing water shortages in the county.

He singled out Shimpir-Fatuma, Burmayo, Sukela tinfa and Bambo areas as areas set to get boreholes.

Darwed borehole located about 10Km from Takaba town will be the second after Wangeidhan that previously served a population of nearly 40,000.

The borehole pumps water at the rate of about 30,000 litres per hour.

The governor was accompanied by County secretary Mr. Okash Aden, County Chief of Staff Mrs. Tamima Ahmed, members of his executive committee and a group of MCAs led by the area MCA, Mr. Hussein Alio.
