County launches Shariah compliant revolving fund

The county government of Wajir has launched a shariah compliant revolving fund that seeks to empower women, youth and the disabled.

The 50million fund was launched by the County governor Ahmed Abdullahi at a colorful ceremony held at Wajir Baraza Park on Saturday.

The governor assured area residents that the figure will increase significantly in the next financial year adding that those who were left out this time will be given first priority in the next round of disbursements.

County Executive member for Trade, Cooperatives & Wildlife Mohamud Abdirahman said that 135 women, 110 youth, 10 persons with disabilities and 26 cooperatives have benefited from the fund so far.

“The fund will attract no interest or administrative fees” confirmed the Trade CEC.

The event was also attended by Leader of majority in the County assembly of Wajir Hon. Mohamed Mohamud, Chairman of the Committee for Planning, Trade, Co-operative, Wildlife and Tourism Hon. Salat Maalim Guliye, the chair of the Committee on disability Hon. Fatuma Yussuf among other members of the county assembly.
