147 dead as Garissa University siege ends

A bloody day came to an end in Garissa after Kenyan forces managed to kill all the four attackers to end the siege on Garissa University colllege.

The official figure of deaths from the attack was put at 147 by Interior CS Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Joseph Nkaissery who is in Garissa together with the Inspector General of Police Mr. Boinet to oversee the rescue operation.

Over 587 students were evacuated while injuries stood at 79.

Nkassery added that more than 10 buses are expected from the National Youth Service to evacuate rescued students to Nairobi.
